British Airways Owner IAG Reports Record €3.5 Billion Profit Amid Travel Boom
International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, has announced a record operating profit of €3.5 billion (£3 billion) for 2023. This financial success is driven by a powerful rebound in travel demand following the pandemic. The group's revenue surged by 28% to €29.5 billion, with passenger capacity returning to nearly 96% of 2019 levels. All of its airlines, including Vueling and Aer Lingus, experienced strong performance fueled by both leisure and recovering business travel. Despite the positive results, the company remains watchful of geopolitical risks and potential air traffic control disruptions.
