British Airways 787 Collapse Mirrors A Similar Weight-Related Incident From 2017
A British Airways Boeing 787-8 suffered a nose gear collapse at London Heathrow in June 2021 while being prepared for a cargo flight. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is currently investigating the cause of the ground incident. This event is strikingly similar to a previous occurrence in 2017 involving another BA 787-8 at the same airport. The 2017 incident was determined to have been caused by an incorrect weight and balance configuration during maintenance. This historical precedent suggests a similar center of gravity issue may be a key focus for investigators examining the more recent collapse.
