Boom Supersonic's XB-1 Demonstrator Completes First Flight, Pratt & Whitney Opens New GTF Engine Facility
Boom Supersonic has successfully completed the first flight of its XB-1 demonstrator aircraft, a critical milestone in its plan to reintroduce supersonic commercial travel. The test flight occurred at the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, with the aircraft reaching an altitude of 7,120 ft. and a speed of 238 knots. In other propulsion news, Pratt & Whitney has opened a new MRO facility in Columbus, Georgia, to service its Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines. This expansion is aimed at addressing the significant maintenance backlog affecting global airline fleets. Additionally, electric aircraft developer Eviation has selected TLG Aerospace to support the certification efforts for its Alice aircraft.
