Boeing Secures Major Carbon Removal Credits in New Deal with Carbonfuture
Boeing has announced a significant agreement with Carbonfuture to purchase 40,000 tonnes of durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits over three years. This procurement represents one of the largest single CDR credit purchases within the aviation industry to date. The credits are generated through biochar, a stable, carbon-rich material produced by heating biomass in a low-oxygen environment. This initiative is a key part of Boeing's broader strategy to decarbonize its operations and the wider aerospace sector. The move complements other efforts, such as the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), to address the industry's hard-to-abate emissions.
