Boeing Disassembles New 737 MAX Jets to Rectify Supplier-Related Fuselage Flaw
Boeing is conducting extensive rework on dozens of undelivered 737 MAX aircraft due to a manufacturing defect. The issue stems from mis-drilled holes in the aft pressure bulkhead, a critical component supplied by Spirit AeroSystems. This non-conforming condition requires engineers to disassemble portions of the already completed fuselages to perform the necessary repairs. The problem, discovered in late August, is causing further delays to 737 MAX deliveries as the company prioritizes safety and quality control.
