Boeing Delivers First Increased-Weight 787 Dreamliner to United Airlines
Boeing has delivered its first 787-9 Dreamliner with an increased maximum takeoff weight (iMTOW) to United Airlines. This new variant, certified by the FAA in July 2023, increases the aircraft's MTOW to 560,000 pounds. The higher weight capacity allows the jet to carry more fuel, extending its operational range by approximately 220 nautical miles. The delivery to United marks a significant production milestone for the Dreamliner program. This aircraft is the first of this new, more capable production standard to be handed over to a customer.
