BIFA Highlights Freight Forwarders' Pivotal Role in Managing Post-Brexit UK-EU Trade
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has credited freight forwarders with playing a pivotal role in making post-Brexit UK-EU trade manageable. According to the association, forwarders helped traders navigate a massive increase in customs formalities and non-tariff barriers, preventing a more severe trade collapse. The sector absorbed significant challenges and costs as customs declarations surged from 50 million to an estimated 400 million annually. This crucial work, which kept goods moving, has been largely unappreciated by the public. BIFA warns that challenges remain, especially with the upcoming implementation of the UK's Border Target Operating Model.
