Beyond Aero Finalizes Design for Hydrogen-Electric Business Aircraft
French startup Beyond Aero has completed the design phase for its hydrogen-powered business aircraft, the BYA-I. The aircraft is designed to carry four to seven passengers with a range of 800 nautical miles. The innovative design features a hybrid-electric propulsion system, utilizing gaseous hydrogen fuel cells for cruise flight and batteries for takeoff and climb. The company has now moved from the preliminary design review to the detailed design phase. With 72 letters of intent secured, Beyond Aero is targeting a 2030 entry into service for the aircraft.
