Bayer and Neste Partner to Cultivate New Feedstocks for Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Bayer and Neste have announced a strategic partnership to develop a new supply chain for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The collaboration encourages European farmers to grow oil-bearing winter cover crops, such as camelina, in rotation with their primary crops. This method avoids competition with food production while simultaneously improving soil health. Bayer will provide agricultural expertise and support, while Neste will purchase the harvested oil to produce its renewable fuels. The initiative directly supports the EU's ReFuelEU Aviation goals aimed at decarbonizing the airline industry.
