Azerbaijan's AZAL Resumes Direct Flights to Nakhichevan Over Armenian Airspace
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has resumed direct flights between Baku and the Nakhichevan exclave. The service restarted on March 6, 2024, following the reopening of the air corridor over Armenia. This marks a significant development, as aircraft previously had to take a longer route through Iranian airspace due to long-standing political tensions. The new, more direct flight path significantly reduces travel time and operational costs for the airline. This change is seen as a step towards normalizing relations in the region.
