Australia Deploys E-7 Wedgetail to UAE for Middle East Operations
The Royal Australian Air Force is deploying an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to the Middle East for a six-month mission. Operating from a base in the United Arab Emirates, the aircraft will support international maritime security and freedom of navigation. This deployment is part of Australia's Operation Manitou, aimed at de-escalating tensions in strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz. The E-7A will provide critical airborne early warning, surveillance, and battle management capabilities for coalition forces. The move highlights the strategic importance of the advanced surveillance platform in a volatile region. Separately, the U.S. State Department has also approved a potential sale of advanced AMRAAM missiles to Australia.
