Appleton International Airport Conducts Full-Scale Emergency Response Drill Simulating Plane Crash

Appleton International Airport (ATW) conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise simulating a major plane crash. This training is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirement that must be completed every three years to test the airport's emergency plan. The drill involved numerous agencies, including airport rescue, local fire departments, law enforcement, and ambulance services. Volunteers from a local college played the role of injured passengers to add realism to the scenario. The objective was to evaluate inter-agency coordination and identify areas for improvement in the case of a real mass casualty incident.
