Ampaire Completes Hybrid-Electric Eco Caravan Demonstration Flights Across Three U.S. States
Hybrid-electric aircraft developer Ampaire has successfully concluded a series of demonstration flights with its Eco Caravan prototype across Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The flights, part of a U.S. Department of Energy program, simulated regional airline routes to showcase the technology's real-world capabilities. The modified Cessna Grand Caravan is equipped with Ampaire's hybrid propulsion unit, which combines a traditional engine with an electric motor. The company claims this system can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 70 percent on short routes. These trials mark a significant step toward achieving FAA certification and advancing sustainable regional air travel.
