American Airlines to Discontinue Shortest International Route to Mexico
American Airlines has announced the discontinuation of its shortest international route, which connects Austin, Texas (AUS) with Cozumel, Mexico (CZM). The seasonal service, operated by American Eagle with Embraer E175 aircraft, was first launched in June 2021. The route spans 891 miles and is scheduled to operate its final flight on August 3, 2024. Despite this cancellation, American Airlines will maintain its service to Cozumel from other major hubs. This includes flights from Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, and Charlotte.
