American Airlines Flight Diverts After Severe Turbulence Causes Injuries, Rapid Descent
An American Airlines flight from New York to California experienced severe turbulence over the Rocky Mountains, forcing it to divert to Denver. The Airbus A321neo encountered the turbulence while flying at 34,000 feet, prompting the crew to initiate a rapid descent. The aircraft dropped nearly 18,000 feet in less than six minutes to find smoother air. As a result of the violent shaking, several passengers and flight attendants sustained injuries. The flight landed safely at Denver International Airport where the injured received medical attention.
