Airbus Explores Local H225 Assembly in Romania to Secure Military Contract
Airbus Helicopters is exploring the possibility of establishing a local assembly line for its H225M multi-role helicopters in Romania. This move is a key component of its bid to win a major defense contract with the Romanian armed forces. The proposal would significantly expand the existing partnership with state-owned IAR Brasov, which currently performs maintenance on the H225M. By offering local production, Airbus aims to provide substantial industrial benefits and technology transfer to the Romanian economy. This strategy strengthens Airbus's position in the competition for the lucrative helicopter procurement program.
