Air Serbia Flight Suffers Substantial Damage in Belgrade Runway Excursion
An Air Serbia flight operated by Marathon Airlines was substantially damaged during a runway excursion incident at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport. The Embraer E190, bound for Düsseldorf, initiated its takeoff from a runway intersection with insufficient distance available for its weight. The aircraft overran the runway end, striking approach lighting systems before becoming airborne. Despite significant damage to the fuselage and left wing, the crew managed to climb and return to the airport for a safe emergency landing approximately one hour later. All 106 occupants evacuated without injury, though the aircraft is likely damaged beyond repair.
