Air Force Reservist Earns Emmy for Coverage of Fatal UPS Cargo Plane Crash
Senior Master Sgt. Corinna M. Dickey, an Air Force Reserve public affairs specialist, has won an Emmy award for her work as a civilian multimedia journalist. The award recognizes her coverage of the deadly 2013 UPS Flight 1354 crash in Birmingham, Alabama. Dickey, who worked for WAKA-TV, was one of the first reporters to arrive at the crash site. The incident involved an Airbus A300 cargo plane, resulting in the deaths of both the pilot and co-pilot. An NTSB investigation later concluded the primary cause was pilot error due to an unstabilized approach. Dickey credits her military training for giving her the skills and composure to report on the tragic event.
