Air China Secures Government Approval for $400 Million Share Issue to Fund Fleet Expansion
Air China has received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission to proceed with a significant share issuance. The state-owned carrier plans to issue new A-shares worth approximately CNY 2.9 billion, equivalent to about USD 400 million. This action is part of a larger private placement strategy aiming to raise a total of CNY 4 billion (USD 552 million). The funds are specifically earmarked for the acquisition of 17 new aircraft from Airbus. The purchase includes six A350 widebodies and eleven A320neo family narrowbodies. The share issue is scheduled to take place before the end of the first quarter of 2026.
