Air BP Marks Centennial with Major Push to Scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel
As it celebrates its 100th anniversary, Air BP has announced a significant strategic focus on scaling up the supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The company is aiming for SAF to constitute 20% of its total jet fuel contract volumes by 2030. To achieve this, Air BP is co-investing in five SAF production projects through its 'pathfinder' program, targeting a supply of up to one million tonnes per year. Currently, the company has already supplied SAF to over 40 locations globally, including major hubs like London Heathrow and Singapore Changi. CEO Federico Guzzi emphasized that SAF is the most viable path to decarbonize the aviation industry in the near term.
