Agriculture and Biofuel Groups Urge Treasury for 'Reasonable' Guidelines on Aviation Fuel Tax Credits
A broad coalition of agriculture and biofuel organizations has formally urged the U.S. Treasury Department to finalize workable guidelines for new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) tax credits. In a letter to the Treasury and IRS, groups including the National Corn Growers Association stressed the need for a practical framework for the 40B and 45Z tax credits. The organizations are concerned that proposed modeling could unfairly exclude biofuels derived from American corn, hindering the industry's growth. They advocate for the full recognition of modern climate-smart agriculture practices to accurately reflect emissions reductions. Ultimately, the coalition seeks clear rules to enable farmers and biofuel producers to participate in the expanding SAF market.
