Africa's Aviation Sector Soars Past Pre-Pandemic Levels with Record Traffic Growth
African airlines are leading the global aviation recovery, posting the fastest year-on-year traffic growth of any region in February at 24.6%. This impressive performance marks the 49th consecutive month of double-digit percentage growth for the continent's carriers. Significantly, Africa is the only major region to have surpassed pre-COVID-19 traffic levels, with figures now standing 9% above those recorded in February 2019. The strong rebound is fueled by a robust recovery in both international and domestic markets. While load factors are still the lowest globally at 74.5%, the consistent upward trend highlights a powerful resurgence in the continent's air travel demand.
