ACI Europe: Unprecedented Financial Crisis Puts 193 Airports at Risk of Insolvency
A new report from Airports Council International (ACI) Europe has detailed the catastrophic financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the continent's airport industry. The findings reveal a 73% collapse in passenger traffic through September, representing a loss of 1.29 billion passengers. This downturn has resulted in a staggering €12.4 billion loss in revenues for European airports. Consequently, ACI Europe is issuing a stark warning that 193 airports are now facing the risk of insolvency in the coming months. The organization is calling for urgent government support to prevent widespread closures and preserve vital air connectivity.
