AAIB Report: Autopilot Failure and Crew Workload Led to Boeing 767 Near-Miss Over Luton

The UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch has released its findings on a serious incident involving a DHL Boeing 767-316F and a Cessna CitationJet. The two aircraft experienced a loss of separation during approach to London Luton Airport on 25 February 2022. Investigators determined the B767's autopilot failed to capture the localiser, causing it to deviate from its intended path. The report highlights that the flight crew was experiencing high workload and had conducted an incomplete approach briefing. Following the incident, which was resolved by air traffic control intervention, the operator has implemented several safety actions related to crew training and procedures.
