A Ranking of America's Air Power: Inside the USAF's Largest Active Bomber Fleets
The United States Air Force currently maintains three strategic bomber fleets. The largest is the B-52H Stratofortress, with 76 aircraft forming the backbone of the nation's long-range strike capability. Following this is the supersonic B-1B Lancer, with a fleet of 45 active bombers. The smallest and most technologically advanced fleet is the B-2A Spirit, with fewer than 20 stealth aircraft in service. These legacy platforms will continue their missions until the next-generation B-21 Raider is fully integrated.
